Most transportation offices run three or four disconnected tools — one for routing, one for GPS, one for parent alerts, and a spreadsheet for everything else. Nothing talks to anything. Guardian Route was built to replace that stack with one platform where the routing engine, the live map, the parent app, and the cost reports all work from the same data.
Guardian Route’s eligibility and routing engine is built around Minnesota law: the §123B.88 mandatory-transport threshold, §169.443 amber-light pre-warning distances, and the §169.444 divided-highway rule are constraints the software enforces — not a compliance checklist left to the planner. McKinney-Vento school-of-origin transport and IEP-driven special education routing are handled the same way. Guardian Route is built by Jamal Awow, its founder, based in Minneapolis–St. Paul. Before Guardian Route, Jamal spent 16 years at Wells Fargo in technology risk — IT audit, independent testing and validation, and cybersecurity risk management — most recently as an Executive Risk Advisor and Strategic Risk Mitigation and Control Manager, and as part of the team that built Wells Fargo’s first end-to-end AI risk framework. He studied at the University of St. Thomas.
That background is the product thesis. In a bank, a critical control is not a checklist someone remembers to follow — it is enforced by the system, tested independently, and impossible to quietly skip on a busy day. Guardian Route applies that same controls discipline to K-12 transportation: Minnesota’s amber-light stop-spacing distances and divided-highway crossing rule are encoded as non-overridable floors in the routing engine, so a route that violates them cannot be published — no matter who is planning it or how late in the evening the routes get built.
